Why does Flippa Recommend I Choose an Auction Instead of a Private Sale?

Before your listing goes live, you'll need to decide whether to sell your site at auction or private sale. For the majority of sellers, we recommend auctions as the best way to find a buyer at the highest price.

In an auction, prospective buyers place bids on the property. Once bidding meets the seller's reserve, the auction will be won by the highest bidder. Auctions on Flippa sell at a higher rate than Private Sales, and fetch higher prices.

For a small number of sellers, a private sale is the right choice when listing a website or domain. This includes cases where the seller already has several prospective buyers, or where the seller will be doing a large amount of promotion for their listing over an extended period of time.

Note that a private sale is not the same as a confidential listing.
